Data Governance Expert

Are you passionate about data governance and hands-on with Microsoft Purview? Looking for a role where you can both shape the strategy and take part in the implementation? This opportunity might be just what you're looking for.

We're supporting a key client in Wallonia in the rollout of their enterprise data governance framework. They're looking for a versatile profile who can lead both the governance vision and the deployment of Microsoft Purview as the central platform.

What you will do

You'll work closely with data, IT, and business teams to design and implement a sustainable data governance approach.

Strategic & governance responsibilities:

  • Assess the client's current data governance maturity and define a clear roadmap.

  • Design and roll out key components: data catalog, business glossary, metadata management, data lineage, data quality, etc.

  • Define rules and processes for data quality, access, encryption, retention, and lifecycle management.

  • Facilitate workshops, onboard business users, and support adoption across teams.

  • Help structure governance roles, responsibilities, and steering processes.

Technical & Purview responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of Microsoft Purview as the enterprise data governance solution.

  • Configure the platform, connect data sources, and organize metadata in meaningful ways.

  • Define usage standards and best practices across teams.

  • Provide documentation, training, and support for technical and business users.

  • Ensure the platform evolves with the needs of the organization.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or similar roles.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (or equivalent platforms like Collibra, Informatica, etc.).

  • Strong knowledge of data governance principles: data cataloging, metadata, lineage, glossary, and quality.

  • Ability to bridge technical and business needs, and communicate effectively with both.

  • Comfortable leading initiatives and driving them forward autonomously.

  • Bonus if you've led workshops or coached teams on governance topics.

Languages

  • French: fluent (required - working language on site)

  • English: good working level

  • Dutch: nice to have, not mandatory

What is on offer

  • A long-term mission with a client committed to building a strong data culture.

  • A hybrid setup: presence in Wallonia combined with remote work flexibility.

  • A strategic role, with room to bring your own vision and shape the governance landscape.

  • A hands-on, high-impact project using modern tools and frameworks.
