Context of the mission
As a functional analyst, you will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that business needs are accurately translated into functional specifications. You will analyze existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to the design of digital solutions that enhance communication and centralize information. You will work on an existing traffic management application that is being further developed and improved through phased project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis and design
o Work with business stakeholders to understand operational needs, constraints, and objectives.
o Facilitate workshops, meetings, and interviews to gather input and build consensus.
o Translate requirements into clear, practical business requirements and functional specifications.
- Documentation and validation
o Document features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
o Document integration specifications (with a strong focus on API integrations) at the required level of detail.
o Collaborate with architecture, development, and QA teams to ensure requirements are feasible and aligned with system capabilities.
o Maintain and update requirements documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Project support and collaboration
o Collect and document requirements for new features and improvements to the existing application.
o Ensure that enhancements are consistent with user needs, regulatory requirements, and technical constraints.
o Participate in bug review processes and support user acceptance testing campaigns.
Requirements
- Education and experience
o Master's degree in business management, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
o Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a functional analyst, with a proven track record in gathering business requirements and defining functional specifications.
o Demonstrated experience in traffic management systems, preferably within the railway sector, or in comparable operational environments (e.g. aviation, ports, logistics, utilities).
o Proven experience with API integrations is mandatory.
- Technical skills
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
o Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent requirement management tools.
o Hands-on familiarity with API concepts (REST, SOAP, authentication, error handling) and ability to document API requirements clearly.
o Knowledge of relational databases (SQL or equivalent) is an asset.
- Languages
o English: mandatory working language within the team.
o French and/or Dutch: at least one is essential for effective stakeholder communication.
- Work arrangement
o Hybrid model with a requirement to be onsite a minimum of two days per week (currently Tuesday and Thursday), with flexibility as needed for workshops and meetings.
