Security Engineer (Medior)
location: Brussels
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Medior Security Engineer to join our team, working specifically to enhance and maintain the information security posture for one of our key clients. This is a significant opportunity for a security professional to take on more responsibility, contribute to strategic security initiatives, and grow their expertise within a critical client environment.
In this challenging role, you will play a vital role in the design, implementation, and ongoing management of information security measures. You will work with a degree of autonomy, contributing to security architecture, performing in-depth analysis, and actively participating in compliance and incident response efforts.
Your responsibilities
- Actively participate in and contribute to day-to-day security operations, including advanced security monitoring, log analysis, and proactive threat hunting
- Conduct in-depth vulnerability assessments, manage remediation efforts, and contribute to the development of strategies to address security weaknesses
- Ensure ongoing adherence to information security standards, particularly ISO 27001 and NIS2 directives, and support audit processes
- Participate in the full lifecycle of security incident response, from detection and analysis to containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review
- Contribute to the development and delivery of security awareness programs and training for employees
- Assist in the design and review of secure architectures for new and existing systems, applications, and infrastructure
- Configure, optimize, and manage various security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, EDR, Firewalls, IAM solutions)
- Collaborate with IT, development, and operational teams, acting as a security subject matter expert and potentially mentoring junior team members
Your profile
- Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an information security role, with +/- 3 years of experience in NIS 2 & ISO27001
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, network security protocols, cloud security principles, and common attack vectors
- Certifications (Strongly Preferred): Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cysa+, CEH, or equivalent. ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor certification is a significant advantage
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in Dutch, English, and French (written and spoken)
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
- Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
