We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst specializing in reverse engineering data from datamarts and Power BI reports. This role is critical to a major strategic project: the replacement of our current Data Vault. The goal of this project is to modernize and secure our data infrastructure by improving traceability, quality, and the efficiency of data flows.
The ideal candidate will be able to trace data processing chains from Power BI visualizations back to datamarts and source databases, in order to document, understand, and improve existing flows. Close collaboration with BI, Data Engineering, and business teams is expected. Our activities cover commercial and operational performance, particularly in After Sales, Customer & Marketing, Dealer Performance, and Importer Performance.
Responsibilities
- Analyze Power BI reports to identify semantic models, DAX measures, transformations, and data sources.
- Reconstruct data flows back to datamarts and relational databases.
- Document data models, transformations, and dependencies (Power BI, datamarts, ETL, databases).
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to validate flows and identify optimizations.
- Participate in data governance (traceability, quality, GDPR/security compliance).
- Propose improvements in modeling, query performance, and report structuring.
- Contribute to the creation of repositories and documentation.
- Participate in migration or evolution projects of source systems.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI (DAX, models, paginated reports).
- Strong experience in SQL and exploration of relational databases (SQL Server, Azure SQL, etc.).
- Knowledge of BI concepts: Kimball, Data Vault.
- Ability to read and interpret complex models and ETL flows.
- Experience in technical and functional documentation.
- Familiarity with GIT and collaborative development environments.
- Analytical mindset, rigor, autonomy, critical thinking.
- Good communication skills.
- Languages: French and/or Dutch, with good command of English (written/spoken).
Education and experience
- University degree in computer science, data science, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar BI or data analysis role.
- Proven experience in complex Power BI environments and in reverse engineering data flows.
