SOLUTION ARCHITECT - APPLICATION - BRUSSELS

Location: Brussels, Belgium (2-3 days/week on-site)

About the Role
We are seeking two experienced Solutions Architects to lead critical technology initiatives within a Belgian government department.
As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for designing enterprise-grade IT solutions, managing project architectures from conception through delivery, and ensuring technical excellence across complex initiatives. You will work with stakeholders at all levels and shape the technological future of government financial systems.
Experience Required: Minimum 10 years relevant experience
Your Responsibilities
- Design and create new IT applications and system components
- Lead from requirement definition through to solution delivery
- Perform detailed needs analysis and collaborate with stakeholders
- Create and maintain architectural documentation and design specs
- Manage architecture end-to-end (business case - delivery)
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles
- Support operations, network, and systems teams on complex issues
- Communicate with stakeholders (BAs, developers, PMs, business)
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies
- Contribute to internal architecture governance and quality
MUST-HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years as a Solutions Architect or similar senior role
- Strong Java architecture + Spring Boot
- Strong data architecture experience (models, flows, storage)
- API/messaging/web services knowledge
- Software design patterns (SOLID, GOF, Enterprise patterns)
- UML diagramming and technical documentation
- Web & Front End architecture understanding
- Strong stakeholder management
- English (mandatory)
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- French or Dutch
- Python (for DATA track)
- Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Microservices architecture
- Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift
- TOGAF/ArchiMate/Zachman
- Agile/Scrum
- Public sector experience
Eligibility Requirements
- Senior-level (10+ years experience)
- Right to work in Belgium (EU or valid permit)
- Available from June 2026
Working Conditions
2-3 days onsite in Brussels
- Flexible depending on project needs
- 12-month contract
