For a customer in Hasselt active across Belgium, we are searching for a freelance Business Analyst who can act as a true IT Business Partner to the organisation - someone who connects business ambition with technology and helps position IT as a strategic partner to the group.
You will play a key role in strengthening how IT collaborates with the business: moving beyond defining what needs to be delivered and when, toward understanding why initiatives matter, what value they create, and how they support the Group's long-term strategy.
This role is as much about people, influence, and business insight as it is about technology therefore we are searching for someone highly motivated who can inspire. The profile does not necessarily need to be senior either!
Responsibilities
· Build strong relationships with business stakeholders across the Group.
· Translate business strategy, challenges, and opportunities into clear value-driven initiatives.
· Act as a trusted advisor who helps shape priorities—not just capture requirements.
· Identify opportunities where technology can enable growth, efficiency, and innovation.
· Help evolve the role of analysis within IT toward a more strategic and value-focused discipline.
· Support functional analysts to look beyond solutions and timelines toward purpose, impact, and business outcomes.
· Encourage critical thinking: shifting conversations from “What are we building?” and “When is it delivered?” to “Why are we doing this?” and “How does this create value?”
· Support the development of analysis practices, frameworks, and ways of working.
· Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder conversations to uncover underlying needs and drivers.
· Translate business context into meaningful insights for IT teams.
· Challenge assumptions and solution-first thinking to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
· Ensure initiatives remain focused on outcomes, not only outputs.
· Inspiring and influencing
· Motivate teams and stakeholders to adopt a broader perspective on value and impact.
· Strong understanding of business operations, strategy, and organisational dynamics.
Profile
· Experience as a Business Analyst, ITBP, or similar role.
· Experience working in environments where IT and business collaboration is evolving and strengthening.
· Track record of influencing stakeholders and guiding teams toward more strategic thinking.
· Stakeholder management and relationship building.
· Facilitation and workshop leadership.
· Strategic thinking and problem framing.
· Strong communication and storytelling skills.
· Ability to challenge constructively and guide conversations toward purpose and impact.
· IT understanding
· Solid understanding of IT landscapes, delivery approaches, and solution development.
· Comfortable working with technical teams and functional analysts.
· Able to balance feasibility with business value.
· Stronger alignment between business priorities and IT initiatives.
