Overview
We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator / SQL Expert to support a critical database environment within a leading financial services organisation. This role will focus on ensuring the stability, availability, security, and performance of SQL Server platforms while driving operational excellence and resilience across the organisation's technology landscape.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on SQL Server administration experience and a proven background supporting business-critical systems in enterprise environments. Experience within financial services, insurance, banking, or other highly regulated sectors is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of production database systems.
- Perform database monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
- Manage backups, restores, patching, upgrades, and disaster recovery processes.
- Support operational resilience initiatives and ensure business continuity requirements are met.
- Identify and implement performance improvements across database platforms.
- Maintain database security, access controls, and compliance standards.
- Conduct root cause analysis for database-related incidents and implement preventative measures.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and support teams to deliver operational excellence.
- Contribute to automation and continuous improvement initiatives within the database estate.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a SQL Database Administrator, SQL Engineer, or SQL Expert.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
- Proven experience supporting complex production environments.
- Strong knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and recovery solutions.
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimisation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent French language skills are essential.
- Ability to work onsite in Brussels two days per week.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within financial services, insurance, banking, or other regulated industries.
- Knowledge of operational resilience frameworks and best practices.
- Experience with monitoring and automation tools.
- Exposure to enterprise-scale database environments.
