SUPPORT ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We're currently recruiting for a Support Engineer to join a network operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the real-time supervision, monitoring, and operational support of critical network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across the environment.
You will act as a key point of contact for network incidents, working to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that may impact service. This includes analyzing alerts, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely escalation when needed. The position requires a strong operational mindset, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and supervise network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents in a timely manner
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
- Support maintenance activities, upgrades, and network changes
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and incidents
- Participate in on-call rotations when required
- Provide clear communication and updates to stakeholders
Requirements:
- Fluency in Dutch (spoken and written) and good command of English
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
- Experience with network monitoring tools and incident management systems
- Ability to troubleshoot network issues methodically under pressure
- Familiarity with protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix systems is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills, especially in high-pressure situations
- Team-oriented with a proactive mindset
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
